A career born out of a happy coincidence
Growing up in Liège, Belgium, Sylvie Zanatta never imagined she would work in a bank. Passionate about economics, she felt destined to be a teacher and began her career as an assistant at the University of Liège. But life had other plans. After moving to Luxembourg to be with her partner, Sylvie began attending job interviews and made a decisive encounter with a manager in the Custody & Depositary Banking department at KBL, which would later become Quintet Luxembourg. “We hit it off right away, and I followed my instincts,” she recalls. She joined the bank in 1994, where she worked on an IT project for institutional clients. “It was an excellent opportunity to learn about how the bank works and the services it offers,” she says.
Finding her calling in customer relationship management
When she returned from maternity leave in 1999, Sylvie was assigned to customer relationship management (CRM), a field she has never left. Initially focused on life insurance, her role has evolved considerably, allowing her to spend a lot of time with clients and gain in-depth knowledge of their needs, expectations and challenges. “I've been lucky to flourish both personally and professionally. I've grown with my clients, building relationships of trust that have lasted over the years,” she says.
A career fuelled by curiosity and challenges
What has motivated Sylvie for more than three decades? The answer is simple: “Constant learning, colleagues, clients and management support.” Quintet has regularly offered her new challenges and opportunities that match her ambitions and curiosity. “It's rare to find an employer that is neither a startup nor a multinational, but a pan-European organisation on a human scale where everything still seems possible,” she explains.
Preparing for the future
From a CRM role in a small commercial entity focused mainly on funds and the emerging Luxembourg life insurance business in the 1990s, Sylvie now manages the CRM team in a thriving department of 45 professionals who support the bank's growing business by serving institutional clients, fund managers, life insurance companies and banks. Her current challenge? Preparing for the future. Several senior members of the team are approaching retirement, and Sylvie is committed to attracting, training and empowering the next generation of talent.
Beyond the office, a passion for sport
Outside of work, Sylvie loves sports. Whether it's tennis, running, swimming, squash, or yoga, sport helps her relax and stay physically and mentally healthy. She is active in Quintet Luxembourg's tennis club, which allows her to meet colleagues from across the organisation and form lasting friendships.
