Senior Legal Counsel - Asset Servicing

The successful candidate will work as part of the Group Legal Function as Counsel, and in such role provide legal support to the Asset Servicing activities of the Group, with the main focus on Luxembourg. This relates mainly to the depositary bank activities of the Group. The position includes providing advice on a comprehensive range of legal and regulatory issues with respect to investment funds with focus on depositary bank topics, as well as the identification and advice pertinent to mitigation of related legal risks. She/he willCollaborate closely with the legal teams of Quintet Group in other Quintet locations as appropriate, as well as identifying, reporting and management of legal risks, as well as active litigation and complaint management in the Asset Servicing space, as well as related reporting in adherence to the Group Legal Risk Framework. She/he will work closely with and provide legal advice to executives, senior management, Compliance and other control functions, participate in meetings and committees, as necessary or requested, and she/he represent the bank in banking sector working groups and other fora, as necessary. The successful candidate is based in Luxembourg or willing to relocate to Luxembourg
Key Accountabilities
- Advise on investment fund matters (mainly depositary bank matters) of all kind under Luxembourg law
- Steering and management of capabilities and priorities in collaboration with the Group Chief Legal Officer
- Strategic problem solving and trusted adviser on a broad range of investment fund-related issues (mainly related to the depositary bank), influencing strategic decision-making
- The position is a stand-alone position, therefore the ability to work independently and manage the own workload efficiently is key
- Being able to support the Group Chief Legal Officer on investment fund-related Group projects and Group initiatives when required
- Being able to communicate and influence stakeholders (internal clients) and engage and manage external law firms in a cost efficient manner when required
Knowledge and Experience
- Mid to senior level qualified lawyer with relevant inhouse experience and/or experience at one of the top tier law firms in Luxembourg
- Excellent legal expertise of the investment fund legal landscape in Luxembourg and the Luxembourg fund industry, in particular with respect to depositary bank matters
- Strong regulatory investment fund background with focus on depositary bank aspects and ability to assess the impact of upcoming regulations
- Good general knowledge of the Luxembourg financial market
- Very good knowledge of legal, compliance and regulatory risks applicable to the investment fund industry, with focus on the depositary bank
- Experience in working internationally and with teams and stakeholders located in different countries

- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work against challenging deadlines and to handle a variety of matters simultaneously.
- Clear view on the Asset Servicing strategy of the Group and its entities, the goals and challenges faced by the bank
- Ability to adapt to organizational and strategic changes
Technical Skills
- 5 years plus of relevant experience as a legal adviser and/or in a law firm in the banking / financial sector in Luxembourg
- Qualified lawyer or bar admission
Languages Skills
- Fluent in English, other relevant languages (French, Dutch, German) would be an advantage. The working language is English
